General Information on Industrial Design Applications

Application

All documents should be submitted to the DPRK within 3 months from date of application.

Screening

Preliminary and substantive screening will take up to 3 months from date of application.

Protection

Protection is valid for 5 years and can be renewed on demand.

Required Documents for Industrial Design Application

1. By entry of a industrial design registration application into the national phase

   • Application form for industrial design registration including the name of applicant, international classification and trademark name
   • In case the industrial design is already protected in other countries, a priority document should be submitted together with application form
   • Letter of Attorney
   • Graphics of industrial design and its explanatory
   • Company document of applicant
   • Creator’s certificate

2. In case the owner’s name or address have to be changed

   • Application for registration of changed items
   • Letter of Attorney
   • Document which confirms changes
   • Certificate of design registration
